Ms. Jennifer Frey, MA, Educational Specialist, earned her Masters in Learning and Instruction from the University of San Francisco. She has taught both in a Special Day Class and as a Resource Specialist in mild/moderate settings with grades ranging from PreK to 8th grade. She has worked in the South San Francisco Unified District and Novato Unified School District before coming to Reed Elementary. Her emphasis has focused on reading intervention, adolescent literacy as well as child development and early intervention. She has had a lengthy experience working with a variety of students with special needs ranging from severe speech language impairments, orthopedic impairments, learning disabilities as well as emotional disturbance and other developmental disorders such as ASD and ADD/ADHD. In the Learning Center, she is trained in and utilizes a variety of strategies from Lindamood-Bell, Sonday System, Read 180, Make Math Real, Touch Math, and Guided Language Acquisition Design.
Ms. Frey is a native to the Bay Area and San Francisco. She currently is a resident of Marin County where she lives with her three sons and her pet hermit crab! She enjoys hiking, camping and kayaking and loves being near the ocean or any body of water if she has a choice! Her favorite weekend activity is to watch one of her sons' soccer, baseball or track events. Prior to becoming a Special Ed Teacher, Ms. Frey worked for several years as an architect and designer in San Francisco. She still pursues time to build, create and explore new creative ideas in art, design, and engineering and endeavors to incorporate these concepts to enrich her instruction when possible. Ms. Frey has also been an active volunteer and leader with Boy Scouts of America working with Cub and Boy Scouts as well as with Venture Crews for the last 14 years in the Pacific Skyline and Marin Councils.
